The year of 2016 went by way too fast and we are already more than a week into the new year.
In this post I am trying to briefly highlight a few developments and statistics of the year on ThinkGeoEnergy. There has also been a personal development for me, as I have been elected as President of the International Geothermal Association. So you will find more IGA related news on the site in the coming three years.
For ThinkGeoEnergy, the year has been quite eventful. With a web development gone bad, we had to redo our website and relaunched it in April this year. This initially saw some drop in readers, but the site quickly recovered.
In the summer of 2016, we had to restructure our activities on the Spanish site, www.piensageotermia.com, which has now been relaunched in the same look and feel as ThinkGeoEnergy and we welcome Carlos Jorquera from Chile as the new editor of the site and thank Francisco Rojas for his work over the past 2+ years.
In June, ThinkGeoEnergy held its first geothermal conference in collaboration with German firm Enerchange, that operates the German geothermal news platform TiefeGeothermie. The IGC Turkey conference held in Izmir/ Turkey was a big success and we thank our partners, EBRD, JESDER and Eren Gunuc for their support and hard work. IGC Turkey is again on the agenda for 2017 and will be held 23-24 May 2017 in Izmir. More details on www.igc-turkey.com
We will also start a new conference that will focus on Geothermal Investment and will be held in November 2017 in Frankfurt/ Germany. Details here: www.investgeothermal.com.
In the process, we also decided to launch a Turkish-language service of ThinkGeoEnergy under www.jeotermalhaberler.com, which we have now launched. … more on this in a separate post.
And likely the biggest achievement has been becoming the major news outlet for geothermal news on the news platform of Google, check it out here. So for the better half of last year we have been constantly featured with around 6-8 news on the first 10 news featured for geothermal on the site.
We have also started an interview series with the ladies of the Women in Geothermal Group, thanks to their team and in particular Laura Garcher for her support on that.
There were also tons of events we attended, from Iceland, the U.S., France, Germany, Turkey, Ethiopia, China and more.
There is lots of more things to report, but this will come at a later point. Here some key statistics
