With the end of the year 2017, Turkey managed to cross the 1,100 MW installed geothermal power generation capacity.
Just before the end of the year the Maren Maras Elektrik Üretim San. ve Tic. A.S. brought its Melih geothermal power plant on, adding 33 MW. The plant was built by Ormat. This brings the total addition of the country in 2017 to 250 MW.
With an additional 271 MW under construction and additional 527 MW in development, in the coming year, Turkey could actually reach around 1,900 MW, about the capacity currently in the Philippines and Indonesia.
