Subsequent tests now showed a temperature of 125 degrees Celsius, which is quite satisfactory. The flow rate of 105 liters per second meets all expectations.
Further testing after successfully drilling the second well will now have to show which of the two deep wells will be used to extract hot water from the subsurface. One of the wells will then used as production well and the other as re-injection well to pump used water back into the ground. Results are expected in the next few weeks.
The developer Silenos Energy GmbH plans to build a geothermal power plant for electricity production in Garching, but also considers further utilisation for heating with tests ongoing.
